Every intentional action in life starts with a thought. From a task as simple as brushing your teeth in the morning to something as complex as getting a space craft from Planet Earth to the Moon. However, one might notice that the more difficult the objective, the more doubt that is created during the conception of the thought. As adults, we generally tend to think of thoughts and ideas in a rational manner. For example, a young child in grade school might dream of teleportation. They might not understand the scientific principles of teleportation, yet they believe that they can do it. On the other hand, if an adult was to say that they will one day teleport an object from one location to another many other adults might laugh at them and think that they are joking.
Why is this? I believe this is due to a limiting of the mind that is instilled in all of us as we matriculate through society. Children don’t have the same limiters because they are still forming their own thoughts and opinions. Children only have imagination. Therefore, a lack of imagination combined with a limited mind leads to self-doubt and disbelief. This is crucial in beginning to develop the necessary steps to believe in yourself. Many of us have experienced failure, and therefore we cease to believe in our self.
Failure from different aspects of our lives can lead to us lacking confidence in other areas of our lives. For example, we might lose a job, or fail an examination, and the failure from that particular event translates into other areas of our lives. We begin to think that we aren’t good at anything and then we start to lack belief in our self. From my experience, I can assure you that no one will believe in you, your purpose, or your mission in life more than you. Simply put, if you don’t believe in yourself then no one else will. Why should anyone invest in your company if you don’t believe in yourself? Why should anyone cheer for you, or support your business if you don’t believe that it can be successful? Do not let your failures have any impact on your mental health, or you ability to believe in yourself.
Life is about learning from our mistakes and evolving as human beings. Personally, I’ve experienced many failures in life, some have been minor and others have been completely debilitating. Yet, without those failures it wouldn’t have made me the person that I am today. As an example, the website on which you are reading this blog was born from the failure of a previous website that I tried to create. The first time I tried to create a website, I didn’t put much effort into it and I went about things the wrong way.
Unsurprisingly, the website failed and I dropped the domain shortly after. However, had it not been for me going through that process I would not have been able to take my time and refine my current website (SPK Lifestyle) into what it is today. It’s time to start believing in YOU! It’s time to start believing in your capabilities. Whatever you wish to accomplish in life, I want you to wholeheartedly believe that you can do it. Once you believe that you can do it mentally, you will begin to take the physical steps necessary to accomplish your dreams.
