Top 5 most dissapointing Hip Hop albums of 2019

Let’s check out our top 5 most dissapointing Hip Hop albums of 2019 as 2020 is on the verge of kicking in. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

1) Kanye West – Jesus is King

Another Kanye West concept album.

As days go by, Kanye is closer and closer to starting his own religion/cult than being the rapper we all knew and admired. Either way, the rapper knows how to create a hype when it comes to music but Jesus Is King a 27-minutes EP/LP (?!) that holds 10 minutes of actual music besides the never-ending interludes. No matter how much you love Kanye, 10-minutes of music is not something to get excited for. 3 out of 10 for Ye’s latest studio work.

2) Chance The Rapper – The Big Day

Music-wise, The Big Day is boring, uninspiring, and inconsistent despite being a 22-track project coming from a rapper that a lot of Hip Hop fans praise and respect. The album was highly anticipated after Chance The Rapper released several mixtapes which brought him a generous fan base but unfortunately, The Big Day does not deliver.

The album scores 3 out of 10 in our book so back to the drawing board, Chance.

3) Big K.R.I.T. – K.R.I.T. Iz Here

Big K.R.I.T. proved himself with his previous projects that he is capable of delivering top quality music. Contrary to what we are used to, K.R.I.T. Iz Here feels like a mainstream trap album created to expand the rapper’s fan base. However, creatively speaking the album is far from K.R.I.T.’s full potential. If it was up to us, K.R.I.T. Iz Here scores a 5 out 10, at best.

4) Snoop Dogg – I Wanna Thank Me

I Wanna Thank Me is another Snoop Dogg album that no one asked for. Snoop is a legend in the Hip Hop game, no doubt about it but nowadays everyone knows and loves Snoop the character, not the rapper. Unfortunately, Snoop also holds a mediocre biography besides his 1993 major debut Doggy Style, Tha Last Meal (2000) and The Blue Carpet Treatment (2006) so there was no need for the rapper’s 17th album.

5) Wale – Wow… That’s Crazy

Even if Wale will forever hold the potential to deliver a classic album, Wow…That’s Crazy is far from his best work. Wow…That’s Crazy is a 15-track LP with 12 guest so judging by this aspect, the project is pretty much a compilation album. Overall, the songs are pretty repetitive and the vibe is way too pop-ish for what Wale got us used to.
